Corridor Character Maps

Existing Corridor Character Map – As part of The Smart Growth Audit, the Consultant Team evaluated the existing character of the corridor to try to describe and understand the existing land use patterns. This map shows the concentration of commercial uses in a “node”. Seven nodes are identified: Bolton (at the Ice Palace), Hendee Road, Andover Center, Lake Road, Columbia West, Route 6/66 Intersection, Columbia East.

Proposed Corridor Character Map – Based on the existing patterns of nodes, the Route 6 REDC recommends that new/future development be focused in the nodes as defined on this map.

Proposed Corridor Master Plan

The Master Plan for future development and conservation of the Route 6 Hop River Corridor is described in three maps:

  • Proposed Streetscape Improvements – This plan focuses on new roads and streetscape improvements to improve the visual character of the corridor, focus development in specific areas, and to create new access for the Hop River trail.
  • Proposed Corridor Conservation Areas – This plan identifies natural and cultural features which enhance the corridor and which should be protected as part of the Master Plan.
  • Proposed Future Corridor Development – This plan includes the items identified in the Streetscape and Conservation Areas Map above. It also identifies possible future development locations and uses. .
